Erin Alexander RPN, BScPN

I graduated from Brandon University in 1998 with my Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing. I am registered with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba. My career began by working in various areas such as acute psychiatry, crisis services, long term care, community mental health and addictions. I have spent the bulk of my career working in the addictions field in various roles and settings.

My training as a psychiatric nurse combined with my experience as a counsellor provides a solid foundation for helping individuals with a wide variety of issues. These issues may include mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression, anger management, communication styles, work/life stress and transitions, grief and loss, shame and guilt, self esteem, emotion management, always keeping trauma informed care in mind. Psychiatric nursing addresses the person by utilizing a holistic approach in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for individuals.

I am passionate about guiding people on their healing journey. The human condition has fascinated me since I was a child and it has been a great privilege to be given the opportunity to sit and hold space for people as they travel their path to wellness. I believe we all have the answers within us and it takes incredible courage to ask for support. As an old colleague of mine used to say “we are all way more alike that we are different”. I have done and continue to do this work too and I firmly believe it’s worth it.
